Heard Guild Presents continues this unique cultural and educational opportunity for the 2024-2025 Fall-Winter season with another exciting presentation by Jason Garcia/Okuu Pin, Santa Clara Pueblo, Tewa.
The work of Jason Garcia (Okuu Pín/Turtle Mountain) documents the
ever-changing cultural landscape of his home of K’haPo Owingeh/Santa Clara
Pueblo, NM. His Tewa cultural ceremonies, traditions, and stories as well as 21st
century popular culture, comic books, and technology, influence his clay and
print work. Using traditional materials and traditional Pueblo pottery
techniques coupled with various printmaking techniques, this juxtaposition of
customary and contemporary materials and techniques connect him to his
Ancestral past, landscape, and cultural knowledge.
Garcia has been a participant in the Heard Museum Guild’s Indian Fair & Market for over 20 years.
